Where Mind, Body & Spirit Connect

The Chinese Medicine Approach

Chinese medicine is a natural system of healing that originated approximately 3000 years ago and is one of the oldest continuously used healthcare systems in the world, offered in elite hospitals like the Mayo Clinic in the U.S.

The Chinese Medicine approach to healing is based on the concept of Qi, or life-force energy, which flows through the body along pathways called meridians.

When Qi becomes blocked or imbalanced, it can lead to physical and emotional symptoms, and, eventually, to illness.

Chinese Medicine treatments are tailor-made to each person as what is treated is the individual and not the disease.

When Qi is flowing freely, the body is in a state of optimal health and well-being.

Healing Methods

Each treatment aims to guide your body-mind-spirit back to a more balanced state by regulating the flow of Qi, promoting your body’s natural self-healing processes, and supporting your Qi in its natural desire towards optimal health and wholeness.

The combination of these techniques, as well as dietary and lifestyle recommendations, will be tailored to your individual needs to support your healing journey. All the methods used in Chinese medicine are natural and free from harmful side effects.

What To Expect In Your Chinese Medicine Sessions

    • In your first session, we will do an in-depth assessment of your health.

    • We'll talk about your symptoms, medical history, eating, rest, and other everyday habits. We'll discuss your health objectives.

    • I’ll examine your pulse and tongue. I’ll palpate the abdomen and the points along the energy meridians.

    • Upon making a diagnosis according to Chinese medicine principles, we’ll determine an individualized treatment plan that may include different healing modalities such as acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, phytotherapy (herbal medicine), dietary and lifestyle changes.

    • You will then lie down in a comfortable position and very fine acupuncture needles will be inserted at specific points. You may feel a bit of tingling or a mild dull sensation. Moxibustion, cupping, and/or massage may also be used. Most people find the experience very relaxing.

    • Although some of your symptoms may improve after the first session, most clients require multiple sessions to see a significant shift in their health. Our bodies need time to fully heal, transform, and rejuvenate.

    • The initial treatment plan will typically involve one treatment a week. The number of treatments and the duration of your healing will depend on the condition being treated and its severity, as well as your health goals.

    • Generally, acute conditions improve more quickly and chronic conditions need more time to rebalance.

    • We’ll assess your progress in each follow-up session and adapt the treatment accordingly.

    • To achieve lasting results, we'll focus on treating the root cause of the imbalance, promoting a healthier flow of Qi in your body, and building resilience in the body, mind, and spirit.
